THE NUTCRACKER

Pike Performing Arts Center
December 4 at 3PM & 7PM, 2021

Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre presents THE NUTCRACKER at Pike Performing Arts Center, December 3 & 4, 2021.  GHDT’s full-length modern version features the highly-talented dancers of G2, the pre-professional company of GHDT.  G2 is joined by students from The Academy of Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre and other young student dancers filling the stage with movement and color!  THE NUTCRACKER follows the same overall story line as the original, but with a uniquely different twist.  This magical version portrays Klara as a homeless orphan girl who discovers the true meaning of the season through the gift and giving spirit of another homeless person.
THE NUTCRACKER is a family favorite and is sure to add joy and cheer to the holiday season.

THE BLACK DAHLIA

The Academy of GHDT
Weekends February 12 -27, 2022

In February, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre will once again transform its daily rehearsal space into a black-box theatre where audiences will be entertained in a cabaret style, up-close and personal theatrical experience.  Back by popular demand, THE BLACK DAHLIA will return to the stage after first premiering in 2017.  This audience favorite has been inspired by the notorious unsolved Hollywood murder of Elizabeth Short in 1947.  Based on factual information with some artistic liberties, the production brings four possible scenarios of solution, but leaves the audience to decide who actually committed the crime.  Highly entertaining, period music, dance and storytelling will capture the curious minds of each audience member. Seating is limited.

EXODUS

The Tarkington
April 7-9, 2022 – 7 pm

Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre is thrilled to once again present the highly popular production of EXODUS.  Inspired by the Book of Exodus, but adapted to our modern world, EXODUS is a cautionary tale of hatred and ignorance.  The ten modern plagues include; desecration of the Earth, gun violence, racism, war, poverty, crime, social media, government, selfishness and death of the first born.  Set to a score of epic symphonic and choral music and enhanced with complex visual artistry, EXODUS will transport the audience into an emotional story of love and sacrifice.  Back by popular demand, don’t miss this highly acclaimed GHDT masterpiece!

ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA

The Tarkington
June 9-11, 2022 – 7pm

Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre will close its 2021-2022 Performance Season with the World Premiere of
ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA.  This new full-length, grand work will again pair the talents of GHDT’s Artistic Director Gregory Hancock and award-winning composer Cory Gabel, known for his evocative musical score for GHDT’s THE CASKET GIRLS.  GHDT’S ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA will be a contemporary re-telling of the classic tale and will be set in “anytime” and “any place.”  This story of power, intrigue and passion has been inspired by one of the most charismatic and powerful women of all time.  Performed with passionate, expressive dancing and eloquent costumes, this timeless drama will captivate audiences of all ages.

Celebrating its 24th Performance Season, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre is the resident, professional dance company at The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana.
